James "Dee" Miller, 98, of Lebanon, passed away Dec. 31, 2016, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon.
James was born on April 28, 1918. in Lebanon, the son of the now late Ollie and Mary (Fine) Miller. He married Anna May Isenhour in 1938. She passed away in 2003.
James served as a private in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing and woodworking; he was also proud of the fact that he got to meet Bob Dole.
James was a machine operator who worked for Stanworth Tool and eventually retired from Allison General Motors.
Survivors include his daughters Brenda Montgomery (Dick) of Lebanon, and Alice Neal (Eugene) of Lewistown, Montana; his grandchildren Cynthia Johnson (Richard) of Lebanon, Aaron Neal of Lewistown, Adam Neal of San Diego, Marcia Montgomery (Brett) of Lebanon, and Jacob Neal of Lewiston; and a great-grandchild William Johnson of Lebanon. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his wife Anna May; son Jack Miller; brothers Oliver Miller, Oren Miller, Robert Miller, John Miller; and sisters Irene Lobb and Helen Keller.
Family and friends will gather from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, for visitation at Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home. James will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon with military rites.
