James A. Wines, 73, of Thorntown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. He was born in Lebanon, on Sept. 25, 1942, to the now late Loral and Rosie (Cory) Wines.
Jim attended Lebanon High School.
On Nov. 13, 1962, he was married to Donna (Reagan) Wines in Lebanon. Mrs. Wines survives.
Jim was a longtime resident of the Thorntown community. He had worked for Stewart Warner, The Lumber Center, Lau Blower and was Deputy Night Marshal in Thorntown for several years.
He was a member of Walnut Grove Church, Thorntown, and the Civil Defense.
Jim was a loving husband, brother and uncle. In addition to enjoying his family, he liked to fish and work on lawn mowers.
Survivors include wife, Donna Wines of Thorntown; sister, Pamela "Pam" Hinton and husband, Steven, of Lebanon; two brothers, Daniel Leo Wines and wife, Tina, of Lebanon and Robert E. Wines and wife, Pat, of Thorntown; sisters-in-law, Alice Wines, Peggy L. Wines and Wanda Wines, all of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl E. Wines, Jack D. Wines and L. Charlie Wines; and an infant sister.
Visitation will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday Sept. 17, at Myers & Hunt Mortuary, 116 W. Plum St., Thorntown. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary in Thorntown. Interment will follow at Cox Cemetery in Dover.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the Boone County Cancer Society, 117 W. Elm St., Lebanon, IN 46052.
