John Michael "Mike" Schaeffer, II, 60, of Thorntown, Indiana, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at his residence.
He was born in Lebanon, on Sept. 10, 1956, a son of the now late John Michael and Rebecca Joan (Taylor) Schaeffer. On May 6, 1978, he was married to Carolyn "Sue" (Landis) Schaeffer in Thorntown; she survives.
Mike was a resident of Thorntown for the past 42 years. He attended Dover School, Granville Wells School, and was a graduate of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.
For many years, Mike drove a dump truck for Paddock out of Jefferson, Indiana.
Mike was a ham radio operator and enjoyed talking with friends all over the world. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed pushing snow during the winter months.
Survivors include wife Sue Schaeffer of Thorntown; step-children Lonna (Bill) Hollingsworth of Thorntown; Patricia Clouse of Crawfordsville; Jeff Guthrie of Campbellsburg; brother Carl Joseph "Joe" (Dawn) of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.
No services are planned. Myers and Hunt Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riley Hospital for Children or to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital.
