Mrs. Judith L. "Judy" Taggart, 76, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 24, 2016, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. She was born in Indianapolis on July 13, 1940, a daughter of the now late George A. and Esther I. (Smith) Aichele.
On July 15, 1967, she was united in marriage to Thomas K. "Tom" Taggart in Fort Wayne; he survives. They had recently celebrated 49 loving years together.
Judy was a 1958 graduate of Fort Wayne North High School.
She helped her husband with the operation of Taggart Farms in Orleans. She was also co-owner of Taggart-Wheeler Real Estate in Kokomo. For the past 20 years, prior to her retirement, she worked at Behavior Corporation.
Judy loved animals and had a passion for rescuing all that crossed her path. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed the moments spent with her family.
Survivors include husband, Thomas K. "Tom" Taggart of Lebanon; two children, Leslie (Taggart) Orr and husband, Jamie, of Thorntown and Robert Taggart and wife, Stephanie, of Fishers; eight grandchildren, Marissa, Austin, Aveline, Sydney, Madalynn, Raygan, Lillyanna, and Rylynn; sister, Carolyn Elmore and husband, Ray, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and nieces and nephews, Debbie, Linda, Ashley, Michael, Sheri and Robert.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Gerfy; and a granddaughter, Michelle.
Private family services are planned for Thursday at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Humane Society for Boone County, P.O. Box 708, Lebanon, IN 46052.
