Kathleen (Kouns) Honan, 94, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. She was born May 26, 1922, in Rosston, the only child of the now late Lena Hamilton Kouns and Inez (McDonald) Kouns.
Kathleen moved to Lebanon with her family when she was a small child. She was a 1939 graduate of Lebanon High School. She then attended Butler University and graduated in 1943, with a physical education degree.
On June 19, 1943, she was married to Dr. Paul R. Honan Jr. at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Lebanon. He survives.
Kathleen was first and foremost a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was devoted to her family and the time she spent with them.
She and her high school girlfriends enjoyed playing bridge for many years in their own club. She also enjoyed playing bridge with the ladies at Ulen Country Club.
Kathleen was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority for many years; Delta Delta Delta Sorority while at Butler University, remaining active as an alumnae member; and was with Cooking Club.
She was a 70-year member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and several church circles, and a current member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Lebanon.
Survivors include husband, Dr. Paul Honan Jr. of Lebanon; children, Linda Silverberg and husband, Jon, of Sheridan, David A. Honan of Whitestown and Susan Jones and husband, David, of Lebanon; grandchildren, LCDR Jon Peter Silverberg and wife, Tiffany, of Lemoore, Calif., Katie Schmitt and husband, Peter, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Shannon Jones of West Lafayette.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the mortuary, with Dr. James Morin and the Rev. Seth Neckers officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
