Mr. Lloyd C. Horlacher, 90, of Thorntown, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017, in Lebanon. He was born March 2, 1927, in Clinton County, a son of the now late Claude W. and Lelah (Strange) Horlacher.
On Oct. 27, 1947, he was married to Emma Jean Meenach, in Morgantown, Ky.; she survives.
Lloyd was a 1946 graduate of Dover High School. Following school, he entered the United States Army, where he served as a paratrooper. He received the World War II Victory Medal and was honorably discharged in November 1947.
Upon his return from service, Lloyd farmed part-time and then began working for Allison Division of General Motors; retiring in 1986.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Lloyd was a dedicated member of the Shannondale Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing and playing euchre. Lloyd also enjoyed all sporting events and was an avid IU Basketball fan.
Survivors include wife, Emma Jean Horlacher of Lebanon; four children, Mike Horlacher and wife, Jo Lynn, of Thorntown, Mark Horlacher and wife, Diane, of Thorntown, Michelle Horlacher of Lebanon and Ray Horlacher and wife, Norma, of Thorntown; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Sherrill of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; brother, Glen Horlacher and wife, Betty, of Darlington; sisters-in-law, Lois Horlacher of Thorntown and Sandra Horlacher of Thorntown; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Samuel Horlacher and Clem W. Horlacher; and a sister, Phebe Smith.
Visitation is planned for 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, June 2, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Interment with military rites will follow at Shannondale Cemetery in Shannondale.
