Phillip Eugene Pavey, 91, of Lebanon, passed away on March 11, 2017, after an extended illness, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. He was born on Nov. 26, 1925, in Lebanon, to the now late Faye E. and Maude E. (Bales) Pavey.
Mr. Pavey graduated from Lebanon High School in 1944. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Navy in July 1944, serving as a radar operator aboard the USS Merrick in the North and South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in July 1946.
He attended Ball State University in 1947, and graduated from Indiana University in 1949.
Mr. Pavey married Patsy Ruth "Pat" Pavey on June 8, 1951, in Lebanon. Mrs. Pavey passed away June 26, 2010. They had one child, Sara D. Pavey, who was an elementary teacher at Jeff-Craig Elementary School in Vevay, until her retirement in 2015.
Mr. Pavey worked 42 years at Stewart-Warner Heating and Air Conditioning Division, Lebanon, and S.W. Southwind Division, Indianapolis. He worked as order department and credit manager of both plants at different times.
He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and was an avid reader.
Mr. Pavey was a member of the American Legion in Lebanon.
Survivors include one daughter, Sara D. Pavey of Vevay; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Phillip was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for noon Thursday, March 16, at the mortuary. Interment, with military rites, will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
