Robert Max Foster, 73, of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at his home in Lebanon. He was born on Feb. 22, 1944, in Lebanon, a son of the now late Orville "Shorty" Foster and Olive Melissa (Stern) Foster.
Max married Sonja F. Bruner on July 1, 1967, in Lebanon; she survives. They recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary at a reception in their honor.
A lifelong resident of Lebanon, he was a 1962 graduate of Lebanon High School. Following high school, Max joined the United States Army and served his country with honor.
Max had worked for the Lebanon Community School Corporation for 17 years, most recently as Corporation Locksmith.
As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he loved spending time with his family. Max was known for his generosity and kindness and will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include wife, Sonja Foster of Lebanon; two children, Jessika J. Hammons and husband, Geoff, of Lebanon, and Tandi L. Allen and husband, Scott, of Lebanon; like a son, Bill Vickery of Lebanon; grandchildren, Gwen Hammons, Ben Hammons, Nathan Allen, Brandon Allen and Drew Cummings;
brother, Richard N. Foster and wife, Johnnie Marie, of Franklin; sister, Clara Jane "Janie" Robinson of Franklin; sister-in-law, Nancy Foster of Greencastle; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by a brother, John Gordon Foster.
Visitation is planned for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the charity of the donor's choice.
