Roberta Harriet (Anderson) Dukes, 87, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at her residence in Lebanon.
She was born on Feb. 6, 1929, a daughter of the now late Henry Anderson and Margaret Virginia (Horne) Anderson.
A life resident of Boone County Roberta graduated from Lebanon High School in 1948.
She was married on June 18, 1949, in Lebanon, to Fred Lyman Dukes. Mr. Dukes passed away on July 12, 2009.
Roberta had worked as a nurse's aide, and in laundry and housekeeping at Oak Park Manor, Essex Manor, and English Nursing Home and was a private care giver for Kelly Health Services. Roberta had also worked as a cook for Pixie Playhouse for several years, LaPetite Academy, and Kroger's before retiring in 2001.
She enjoyed her family, gardening, crocheting, cooking and sewing. Her family knew her as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Roberta was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Amaranth and was involved with the Special Olympics from 1970-1993.
Survivors include five children John R. Dukes of Westfield, and Ross L. Dukes, Ruth E. Hedge, Russell H. (Vicki) Dukes, Rachel A. Haws, all of Lebanon; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one expected.
In addition to her parents and husband, Roberta was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Dukes, a sister, Rebecca Latham, brothers, Richard Anderson and Russell Henry Anderson, sons-in-law, Terry Haws, Garry Gordon and Don Hedge, daughters-in-law, Debra Dukes and Kay Dukes.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., in Lebanon. Amaranth services will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Services are to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the funeral home.
