Roy A. Meek, 101, of Frankfort, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at the Mulberry Health and Retirement Community. He was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Thorntown, to Albert Francis and Lyda Maye (Yount) Meek.
Roy attended Lebanon High School and was a truck driver for P.R. Mallory for 25 years.
He married Allegra M. Bryant on March 9, 1937, in Frankfort. She preceded him in death on Sept. 3, 1993.
Roy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 70 years.
He was an avid Colts fan and loved racing. He lived long enough to watch the 100th running of the Indy 500, see the Cubbies win the World Series, and was able to vote in this election.
Survivors include his son, Niles (Linda) Meek of Frankfort; grandson, Dallas James (Jessica) Meek of McKinney, Texas; great-grandchildren, Shelby Meek of Wylie, Texas, and Liam and Lucy Meek, both of McKinney; nephews and niece, Steven Ferguson of Kokomo, and Doug (Bonnie) Ferguson and Janet Ambrose, both of Russiaville. He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Kenneth Andrew Meek; five brothers and sisters; and a nephew.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Bunnell Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation; envelopes will be available at the service.
