Mrs. Sally V. Neese, 88, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 13, 2016, at Hickory Creek at Lebanon. She was born in Sinaloa Rosario, Mexico, on Feb. 3, 1928, one of 19 children to the now late Fernando Valdez and Lydia (Aguilar) Valdez.
On July 16, 1950, she was married to Dalton Eugene "Gene" Neese in New Mexico; he preceded her in death on June 5, 2015.
Sally was raised in Mexico until the age of 19, when she moved to El Paso, Texas. She followed Gene back to Boone County in 1953. Here, she worked as a seamstress for Thorntown Textile and Jewel Simon Company in Frankfort.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who took great pride in her family. In addition to being a skilled seamstress, Sally also enjoyed crocheting, needlework and sewing. She liked canning and gardening, and she loved cooking Mexican cuisine for her family.
Survivors include four daughters, Zelma L. Castro Williamson and husband, Carl, of Indianapolis, Linda L. Hutcheson and husband, Randy, of Roachdale, Mary M. Huckleberry and husband, Wayne, of Sheridan and Peggy J. Lewis and husband, Huck, of Lebanon; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister; two brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Sally was preceded in death by 15 siblings.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Entombment will follow services at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
