Mrs. Starlyn Lorraine Tyree, 71, of Colfax, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Lebanon on June 19, 1945, a daughter of the now late Stanley Eugene Huffman and Edna Dorine (Abney) Huffman Wilson.
She was a 1963 graduate of Lebanon High School. Following high school, she obtained college instruction in fundraising.
Star was married on Jan. 7, 1984, in Thorntown, to Cleatus Hollie Tyree Sr.; he passed away on June 21, 2008. She was formerly married to Kenneth Lee McIntyre.
Star had devoted her time working for several not-for-profit organizations. She had served as national director for Critical Care Systems, program director for the Kidney Foundation and Leukemia Society of America, and was the executive director of Hemophilia of Indiana. Most recently, Star had also worked at Home National Bank.
She enjoyed her family and traveling.
Survivors include two children, Madison R. "Matt" McIntyre of Lebanon and Tina L. McIntyre of Cape Coral, Fla.; two stepchildren, Jennie L. Tyree of Lebanon and Robert G. "Rob" Tyree of Thorntown; five grandchildren, Lucas McIntyre of Lebanon, Zach Essex of Greenwood, Melissa Moore of Lebanon, Vanessa Snow of Thorntown and Katie Chester of Clarksville, Tenn.; six step-grandchildren, Toney M. Tyree of Colfax, Ryan C. Tyree of Rensselaer, Stacy Johnes of Lebanon, Sara L. Merrill of Lebanon, Ashley R. Tyree of Lebanon and Jenna L. Tyree of Thorntown; numerous great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Eugene Huffman of Florida and Randy Gene Huffman of Lafayette; four sisters, Betty Lou Murdock and husband, Joe, of Anderson, Gloria Jena White and husband, Kevin, of Lebanon, Cindy S. Minor and husband, Terry, of Lebanon and Judy Kay Martinez and husband, David, of Brownsburg; and
many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, stepfather and husband, Star was preceded in death by three brothers, Ricky Van Huffman, Michael Dean Huffman and Tommy Huffman; a sister, Nedra Jean Wilson; a half sister, Sandra Sue Lollar; a stepson, Cleatus H. "Chip" Tyree Jr.; and a stepgrandson, Dustin R. Hinkle.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at the mortuary, with the Rev. Glen Jewell officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.
