William L. Cox II, formerly of Lebanon, passed away in Merritt Island, Fla., on Sunday, March 19, 2017. He was 73. He was born in Lebanon, the son of William L Cox of Lebanon and Helen Best Cox of Frankfort.
Bill was a graduate of Lebanon High School in 1961, and attended Butler University.
He worked at IBM, and retired from the United States Navy in 1987, after 20 years of service as a first class instrument man. After retirement, he attended school to learn computer technology.
Bill is remembered as an accomplished artist and basketball player, including being a member of the 1960 state semi-finalist LHS basketball team.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Bette Thornton Serie and Norma Thornton McPeak Hughes. He is survived by sisters, Nancy Cox (Marion) Fairfield of Lebanon and Terri Cox Kincaid of Lebanon; children, Cari Ann Cox (Keith) Lehigh of Indianapolis, William L Cox III (Melissa Martin) of Orlando, Fla., Jeffrey Wines (Tina) of Oviedo Fla., and Jennifer Wines (Scott) Ronczkowski of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Triston Cox, Adam Wines, Alexia Wines, Kaitlyn Wines, Mandy Troy, Kayleigh Troy, Zoey Ronczkowski and Cassidy Ronczkowski; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews in the Lebanon area.
A private memorial service is planned at the end of March in Florida, where his ashes will be returned to the sea that he loved.
