Daniel Leith Anderson Jr.
Daniel Leith Anderson Jr., 74, died at home Dec. 4, 2019. He was born on New Year's Day, 1945 - the eldest son of Daniel and Dorothy Anderson. He grew up in Hinsdale, Ill., a championship swimmer and golfer. Leith graduated from Hinsdale Central High School and Stanford University where he was a member of the golf team.

While in Honduras with the Peace Corps in the late 1960s, he met his wife of 39 years, Bonnie Anderson. Together, they started a leather goods business and a family in Bloomington, Ind., where Leith finished his law degree at Indiana University.

Leith's ventures in computer consulting brought the family to Palo Alto, Calif. After a successful career in software marketing, he started his golf club-fitting business, The Golf Lab. With passion and diligence, Leith became one of the top 100 golf club fitters in America. He brought The Golf Lab to Indiana, developed the Indy Putting Lab, and stayed connected with the golf community through his carefully curated newsletters. Throughout his life, Leith was a natural mentor, offering guidance and encouragement to family, friends, colleagues, and students. Leith loved big dinner parties and was known to have everyone switch seats halfway through a meal, "just to keep things interesting."

Survivors include son Daniel Ryan Anderson, wife Jen, and grandson Parker (Durham, NC), daughter Brett Anderson and fiancé Edward Breckenridge (Los Angeles, CA), former wife Bonnie Anderson (Durham, NC), sisters Christie VanSteenwyk (Fishers, IN), Gayle and spouse Matthew Greenwood (Sarasota, FL), and Elizabeth Anderson Shatner (Los Angeles, CA), nephew Judd Davis (Bloomington, IN), and niece Melissa Swain and husband Matthew (Rochester Hills, MI). He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Dorothy Anderson, and brother Scott Anderson. A celebration of Leith's life will take place in June 2020 at the Anderson family farm in Whitestown, Ind. For information, please contact leithmemorial@gmail.com.
