Lebanon, Indiana - George L. Roberds, 96, Lebanon, passed away at 9:47 am on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Homewood Health in Lebanon. He was born at home on the family farm in Grant County, Indiana, on Thursday, November 21, 1929, to Seber and Della (Woodring) Roberds. On December 22, 1962, he married Diana K. Coleman.

George graduated from Jefferson Township Schools and earned his Associates Degree from Indiana Business College.

George served honorably in Military Intelligence in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He was then with Indiana Business College (IBC) for 49 years, first as an instructor, then as Director of the Marion school, and eventually as President of IBC. In honor of his service at IBC and other contributions to the community, George was named a Distinguished Hoosier by Governor Evan Bayh. He loved teaching and doing genealogy research, and he was an excellent storyteller who loved sharing his life experiences with family and friends.

He was most proud of his family. Survivors include his daughter, Julie A. (Mark) Wolf of Lebanon; son, Steven L. (Mary) Roberds of Silver Spring, MD; grandchildren, Benjamin (Kelsey) Roberds, Elizabeth Roberds, Alexander Roberds; great-granddaughter, Penelope; and great-grandson, Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Seber L. and Della A Roberds; his six siblings; and his wife of 57 years, Diana K. Roberds.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate George's life will begin at 12:00 noon. Burial will take place at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Marion.
