Mr. John R. "Dick"Watkins, 83, of Michigantown, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Clinton House Health & Rehabilitation Center.. Mr. Watkins was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Forest, Ind., to Russell and Irene (Robertson) Watkins.. On Feb. 19, 1954, he married Betty Jean Gallaher, and she passed away on March 2, 2006.. Mr. Watkins a corporal in the United States Army 1951-1952, and worked for AgMax in Forest for 14 years from 1978 till 1992. He had also worked in farming for several farm families around the area. His hobbies were making things in his wood shop.. Survivors include his son, Jerry (Tina) Watkins of Michigantown; daughter, Linda (Gary) Myers of Angola; one sister, Carolyn Becker of Forest; nine grandchildren, Emily Eaton, Dustin Lucas, Jennifer Myers, James Watkins, Jerri Ann Watkins, Kelsey Crose, Courtnay Evans, Brittaney McQuinn and MaKayla McQuinn; and nine great-grandchildren.. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Irene Watkins; wife, Betty Jean Watkins; son, Loren Watkins; two brothers, Donald Watkins and Harold Watkins; and one grandson.. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Stout & Son Funeral Home 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, June 20, at the funeral home.
