John T. Whitlock, III Obituary

Zionsville, IN - John T. "Jack" Whitlock III, born January 27, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2026 at the age of 90.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Annette L. Whitlock, and his son Steven G. Whitlock.

He is survived by his loving children: Debbie McMasters (Scott), Mark Lewis (Paula), Cheryl Kelley (Alex), Michael Whitlock (Marcia), John Whitlock (Carol), and Chris Whitlock (Teresa), along with 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and extended family members who brought him great joy.

A proud graduate of the University of Missouri, Jack was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and went on to build a distinguished career in the insurance and surety bail industry. He served as the former CEO of American Surety Company, where his leadership and vision helped shape the organization and earned him lasting respect in the field.

Jack was a dedicated member of The Junto of Indianapolis and the Country Club of Indianapolis, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow members and the challenges of its renowned golf course. An avid golfer throughout his life, he cherished time on the links with friends and family, finding both relaxation and friendly competition in the game he loved so much.

Jack lived a full life marked by strong family ties, professional accomplishments, and a passion for simple pleasures. He and Annette shared a love of travel, good food, and time with their family. He loved nothing more than holding the newest baby in the family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care in Zionsville, IN on Monday, March 2, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church in Zionsville, IN with a tentative date set for March 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Bridewell Foundation's Camp Esperanza (campesperanza.org), a nonprofit organization that provides free, medically supervised summer camp experiences for children with cancer, inspiring hope and normalcy during difficult times. Jack's family spent 30 years raising money for the Foundation through an annual golf tournament, in memory of Steven.
