With hearts heavy with sorrow but filled with gratitude for the time we shared, we announce the passing of Samantha Jane Laney, aged 38, on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. Born on May 10, 1986, in Indianapolis, Samantha was the beloved daughter of Mary (Kaufman) Walkup and Paul J. Laney.
Samantha was a devoted mother, cherished daughter, sister, and friend. She attended Lebanon schools before graduating from Western Boone High School in 2005. Samantha was a stay-at-home mom and found her greatest joy in nurturing and raising her two beautiful children, Izaiah and Rosalie. Her legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
She is lovingly remembered by her mother and stepfather, Mary and Gene Walkup; father and stepmother, Paul and Phyllis Laney; beloved bonus parents, Bryan and Tina Austin; fiancé, Fernando Curet; precious children, Izaiah and Rosalie Curet; grandparents, Bill and Betty Harper; sisters, Alisha (Scott) Schwenk, Melissa (Chris) VanVolkenburg, and Shauna Rawson; brothers, Steven (Ceara) Laney-Walkup, Nathan Laney, Daniel (Kaleen) Laney, Ryan (Amanda) Laney, Jon (Maggy) Laney, Matthew Walkup, Joe Davidson, and Eric Weaver; and a multitude of adoring aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Samantha is now reunited in heaven with her grandparents, Charlie & Mildred Laney, and brother, Christopher Walkup, who preceded her in death.
A celebration of Samantha's life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories during the visitation, beginning at 12:00 noon until the time of service. Samantha will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown, a place of peace and reflection.
