Lebanon, Indiana - Shirley Fairfield, 85, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. She was born January 20, 1940, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Herschel St. Clair and Mae B. (Fosnight) Johns. She married Melvin Fairfield, Sr. on November 5, 1955 and he preceded her in death on August 18, 1981.

Shirley had worked for Royal Cleaners for many years. She loved spending time with her family, along with doing crosswords and word searches. She also loved spoiling her pets. Shirley was a former member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge.

Survivors include her children, Melvin (Rosie) Fairfield of Florida, Mark (Joyce) Fairfield of Tipton, Donald Fairfield of Lebanon, and Tammy Ballard of Lebanon; 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Johns; sister, Patty Ashley; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Fairfield; 1 great grandchild and 1great-great grandchild.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Humane Society of Boone County.
