Susan Rogers Furman, 70, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at home surrounded by family and friends. She was born February 8, 1955, in Batavia, IL, a daughter of the late Gordon and Phyllis (Davey) Rogers. Sue married George Furman on December 4, 1976.

Sue graduated from Batavia High School with the class of 1973 and went on to attend Greenville College and Eastern Illinois University. After she left Eastern, she worked as a legal secretary and at a daycare. She stayed home to care for her children after they were born.

Sue then went back to school to earn her degree from IUPUI and began teaching sixth grade math at Lebanon Middle School. She truly had a passion for teaching and absolutely loved kids. Her students and faculty friends will lovingly remember her for her fun and energetic personality, doing cartwheels in the classroom, always having Jolly Ranchers, but most importantly, her devotion to each and every one of her students. She retired from teaching math, but then returned to teach science for several more years. She truly loved teaching kids.

Sue also had a passion for staying healthy and enjoyed walking and working out. She loved dogs, gardening and flowers, and the beach of course!

Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, George Furman of Lebanon; son, TJ (Kelley) Furman of Indianapolis; daughter, Libby Furman of Indianapolis; brother, Scott Rogers of Batavia, IL; sister, Pam (Randy) Starck of Batavia, IL; grandchildren, Kailani Jane O'Neal and one baby on the way; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron (Sherry) Furman and Dora (Michael) Stannard of Springfield, IL, and Debbie Hoffner of Howell, MI; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Friday, March 14, 2025 for visitation from 3 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life service at 7 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N.
